ITANAGAR, June 14: Kangku Circle Students Union of West Siang district conducted assessment tour in its circle concerning the various issues such as education, electricity, boundary, road and communication issues. In its two days tour the members of the union visited every village and school in its jurisdiction, said a release. The union claimed that the area is plagued with various problems like inaccessible roads, lack of educational infrastructure and other basic amenities which make more difficult to the people of area. RUKSIN, June 14: Fulfilling his election commitment, Pasighat West MLA Tatung Jamoh donated an ambulance (Maruti Van) to Sille (Teromile) villagers in a simple function held at Sille Community Hall yesterday.
While handing over the key of the van to the village president, the MLA urged the villagers to utilize ambulance properly. He called upon the villagers, including youths to imbibe work culture for economic development of the area. He urged the PRI leaders to maintain transparency in selection of beneficiaries under various schemes.

‘Take extra pain for visible improvement in health sector’
ITANAGAR, June 14: Health and Family Welfare Minister Kalikho Pul today sought cooperation of officers and officials of his department to bring visible improvement in health sector.
Addressing the coordination meeting of the health personnel including health secretary, director, joint director, deputy director, district medical officers, state nodal officers, programme officers, DRCHOs at Banquet hall here today, Pul requested them to take some extra pain to bring the system on track and work as a team to ensure that a visible change comes in the performance of the department.
Emphasizing the need for dedicated service by the departmental personnel with a sense of urgency to make the system really working, the health minister said only a better coordination can improve the system of health care in the state. “I have opted for this department with a genuine intention of doing some work. I am sure, my goal cannot be achieved without your cooperation and guidance,” Pul said.
Citing various problems that the health department and health centres have been facing due to various reasons, the health minister said that his department needs proper planning at administrative level, to overcome challenges in a time bound manner. “If our planning is not proper, there shall be duplication of programmes, wastage of resources and end up in failure at every front”, he added.

HM seeks cooperation for smooth & speedy execution of projects
ITANAGAR, June 14: Responding to the conflict between Tagin Cultural Society (TCS) and UM Shambharkar, Regional Officer (RO), Ministry of Road Transport and Highway on the issue of “Alignment of Trans Arunachal Highway through Daporijo”, a high level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Home Minister Tanga Byaling at the CS’s Conference Hall here today.
The meeting was attended by PWD Minister Gojen Gadi, Commissioner (PWD) Gonesh Koyu, IGP (East) N Payeng, Chief Commissioner (PWD) Highway Hage Appa, Principal Secretary (Home) D Sharma and Upper Subansiri ZPC Sushil Nalo.
Speaking to the reporters after the meeting, the Home Minister informed that a decision was taken unanimously by the Board that any organization or civil society should go through the state government before interrogating any officer at his office chamber to know any projects related and other information.

Early functioning of Niglok industrial centre demanded

RUKSIN, June 14: Infrastructure development of the much hyped Industrial Growth Centre (IGC) at Niglok in East Siang district has come to a complete halt allegedly due to utter negligence of the state Industry Department thus making the state government’s industrial development policy almost idle,
More than two decades have passed since establishment of the IGC, but yet no remarkable development has taken place. The industry was designed with installation facilities like bamboo, food, tea and fruit processing units, Information Technology Park, cold storage, machinery weaving etc. But these are running (?) without men and machines till date.
It is pertaining to mention here that the department of Industry had submitted an estimate of Rs 20 crore to the Government of India (GOI) in December 1988 and, accordingly, the GOI released huge amount of fund from time to time for infrastructural development of the industry centre.
But, no remarkable development of industry centre has taken place in the last two decades.
There was a small scale “Bamboo chips” production unit run by ‘Siang Bamboo Factory’, in the industrial complex, but it has left the industry two years back. As such, the 1000 MT Capacity ‘cold storage’ project set up by agriculture department is also lying defunct for years due to lack of proper power supply.
Officials informed that “Vinayak Tea Company under Kolkata based Dunkan & Dunkan”, has made an agreement with the state industry department to set up a tea factory in Niglok IGC. The company is extending its rural outreach programme by supplying tea plant to the local tea growers on subsidized rate. Another Guwahati based company namely ‘Bahrati Infrastructure Ltd’, is producing tiles and other building accessories inside the industry.
The industrial complex having an area of 582.15 acres is not yet covered by security wall. A portion of boundary walls was made under SPA fund last year, but longer portion is yet to be erected.
Presently, most of the building in the complex is in abandoned state for want of proper care and maintenance.
In a recent development, the government approved a plan for establishment of the Sainik School in the IGC and accordingly necessary survey and documentation was also conducted by a joint team headed by the state’s Elementary Education director.
Pasighat West MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary (Industry (Independent) Tatung Jamoh accompanied by officials of District Industry Department and host of public leaders today visited the IGC at Niglok. The MLA assured that he would take up a comprehensive plan for early functioning of the industries after the state government allocates fund under Industry sector.
ITANAGAR, June 14: In an effort to make the state capital free of stray animals, the Capital Youth Organization (CYO) today along with the Additional District Magistrate Talo Potom conducted a stray animal prevention drive in Capital Complex. Approximately 40 stray animals were picked up by the team during the drive. Later, the animals were given back to the owners after imposing fine.
“What impression will tourist have if they see stray animals blocking the traffic? This is our state capital; we need to keep it clean and free of stray animals. So with capital administration we are trying to aware the people about harmful effects of stray animals”, said CYO president Bengia Nachung.
CYO general secretary Pesham Changrang said, “Most of our youths use two wheelers and many a time stray animals are the reason behind their fatal accident incidents, so we need to keep away stray animals from roads because human lives is far more valuable than animal lives”.
Nachung has appealed to the people to retrain their domesticated animals in future also and informed that it will soon conduct another massive stray animal prevention drive.

Suresh was among the 85 patients who undergone NHPC sponsored cleft surgery by Operation Smile from March to May last in Guwahati.
"My son was unable to take food easily and we have to take extra care while feeding
him? but today we are relieved after his surgery ... We had no money to do the surgery
on our own and was left with God’s mercy," said a visibly happy Monica, while attending

ZIRO, June 14: Development should be our first priority, said Parliamentary Secretary Home, Sports and Youth affairs Likha Saaya in a meeting convened by the Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner and attended by PRI members, TAH and District Administration officials.
Reiterating the need for good connectivity, Saaya said that roads are the lifeline for development and a little bit of sacrifice for a larger cause should be volunteered. However, he felt that the affected landowners should also be reasonably compensated. Controversial points can be bypassed for the time being and the remaining stretch can be assessed, as the project is lagging behind schedule, he added.
Particularly addressing the PRI members Saaya said that he is open to constructive suggestions from all irrespective of the party they belong to. “Let not petty party politics hamper the developmental activities,’ he added.
He later visited the Police Station and took stock of problems faced by policemen. He assured to take up the issues at earliest.

He also informed that the affected people can attest their signature on the Performa only after they are satisfied with the survey conducted. Taking the opportunity he also sought more clarity on the power devolution to the PRI members. A proper structure as to which departments/ schemes are to be delegated should be notified; he added and requested the Parliamentary Secretary to appraise the higher authorities.

NYP’s success story finds taker in NABARD
ITANAGAR, June 14: A success story of the National Youth Project (NYP) that turned opium addicts of Anjaw district to role models as horticulturists is taken as a model by the National Agricultural Bank for Rural Development (NABARD).
NYP, being the institutional partner of NABARD, its president H P Biswas and vice president Pradeep Kumar succeeded in persuading a group of young addicts to give up opium and assisted them to cultivate large size cardamom with the help of NABARD.
About 22 youths formed two farmers’ club at Goiliang and Kasonglat and given all guidance under the NABARD schemes under the constant monitoring of NYP team.

ASBA members urged to work with dedication
ITANAGAR, June 14: Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) Senior Vice President Gaken Ete called upon the association members to work sincerely and with dedication to achieve the aim and objective of ASBA.
Addressing the Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of the association in a city hotel here today, Ete said that despite limited resources and lack of infrastructure ASBA has been able to produce world class shuttler. He was referring to state’s ace shuttler Laa Talar, who represented the country at an international event at Malaysia recently.
ASBA was formed two decades ago with the sole aim to popularize the sport in the state, identify and groom talents, Ete said. He stressed the need for developing more infrastructures for further development of the sport in the state. There are only two badminton courts at Raj Bhawan Badminton Hall, he informed.
He remembered the contribution of former chief minister late Dorjee Khandu, former ministers Neelam Taram, Talo Mugli, late Dera Natung, former MP Takam Sanjoy, Bamin Hinda and many others for development of badminton in the state.
Secretary Bamang Tago stressed on strict discipline among players and members of ASBA, especially at court. He informed that ASBA will chalk out future plan and programmes soon besides preparing an event calendar for the year.
Tai Mama, public leader, businessman and keen lover of badminton, suggested ASBA to appoint coach from abroad to train the budding badminton players and develop infrastructure at various districts too.

I do the work of thousands of labourers in a single day. Seeing my power and my ability
the greedy rich people engage me from dawn to dusk. I have catapulted many people
from rags to riches. With the huge income I have earned by dint of my hardwork, I
have even made many MLAs. I have earned so much for them that they have enough money
and property to buy voters during the elections. But they seem to be very ungrateful
people. They hardly recognize my single-
I am often accused of flattening hills, causing landslides, blocking drains, causing floods, blocking rivers and destroying the virgin forests everywhere. I am even wrongly blamed for irreparable damage to the environment and the fragile ecosystem. But the pertinent question here is, how can I be made the scapegoat for no fault of mine? Its the ever greedy people who take undue advantage of me and make me do everything for their own vested interest. In return they only give me fuel and nothing else. I am not allowed any rest. I am taken away as soon as the day breaks to strange and unknown places to bring down hills and mountains with beautiful trees and flowers. Sometimes I feel sad. But what can I do? I have to obey the orders of my greedy masters. I am also blamed for disappearance of the magnificent wildlife from the jungles. This I admit. When there are no trees and forests, where would the beautiful creatures live?
I am an interesting fellow. Many loath me for my destructive nature while some others,
mostly the rich contractors love me for what I do for them. Some tell me that my
